1.竞争
When one firm or countrycompetes with another, it tries to get people to buy its own goods in preference to those of the other firm or country. You can also say that two firms or countriescompete .
e.g. The banks have long competed with American Express's charge cards and various store cards...

2.(与…)争夺(以获取)
If youcompete with someonefor something, you try to get it for yourself and stop the other person getting it. You can also say that two peoplecompete for something.
e.g. Kangarooscompete with sheep and cattle for sparse supplies of food and water...

e.g. Schools should notcompete with each other or attempt to poach pupils...

3.参加(比赛)
If youcompete in a contest or a game, you take part in it.
e.g. He will be competing in the London-Calais-London race...

e.g. Dubbed foreign language films will not be allowed tocompete for best film...
外国译制片不得参加最佳影片的角逐。
