Anassignment is a task or piece of work that you are given to do, especially as part of your job or studies.

e.g. The assessment for the course involves written assignments and practical tests.

You can refer to someone being given a particular task or job as theirassignment to the task or job.

e.g. An Australian division scheduled forassignment to Greece was ordered to remain in Egypt.
原定去希腊执行任务的一支澳大利亚小分队接到命令后继续留在埃及。
